Zenovay: The Analytics Company That Doesn't Exist

Zenovay presents itself as a Swiss, privacy-first analytics platform that has been operating since 2023. Every part of that is fabricated.

Start with the timeline. Zenovay's own About page says the platform launched in 2023. A domain lookup shows zenovay.com wasn't registered until 2025-07-28. The company could not have launched a platform two years before its domain existed.

The team is next. The blog is bylined by staff, including "Engineering Lead Martin Hale," complete with headshots. None of these people exist. The profile photos are AI-generated, flagged by SynthID, and the blog posts carrying their names are AI-generated as well.

There is no company behind any of this either. Every legal page, including the Impressum, lists the address as "Zenovay, Switzerland" and nothing else. No street, no registration number, no entity. Terms, Privacy, Cookies, and the DPA all repeat the same placeholder.

Then there's the core technical claim. Zenovay's blog says cookieless tracking is the default, with no cookies or similar client storage. The tracking script does the opposite of what it claims. By default it sets a 30-day tracking cookie, writes to localStorage and IndexedDB, and sends a client-generated UUID as the visitor ID, directly contradicting the post's own line that "the tracker itself sends no identifier because it does not have one." It also stores "returning visitor" history, the exact thing the post claims can't be tracked.

The same script includes cross-domain tracking, session replay, heatmaps, error tracking, and an adblock evasion mechanism built around a randomized tracking endpoint.

As for who's actually behind it: the creator is Jasin Banovi, though there's no way to confirm that's his real name. He says he built it with a friend, Rainer Rankwiler. That person is also fake. The GAN-generated profile picture gives it away.
